Autorickshaws are an integral part of daily commute in India, with each vehicle having their own “personality”. The interiors are mobile canvases of personal expression, with vibrant vinyl seat covers and roof, draped with tassels and lace, teeming with references to pop culture, slogans, and poetry. During my daily work commutes in the mid-2000s, I began photographing the very auto-rickshaws I traveled in, documenting this unique everyday art form from the passenger seat.
